To prepare for a future where people benefit from space-based technologies, we need to foster a diverse pool of qualified, enthusiastic young people who are inspired by space and have the skills to apply its benefits here on Earth.

To help, we’ve created this guide for career preparation for high school students, early college students, and anyone who may wonder how to prepare for a new career in space technology.

The Student's Guide to a Career in Space is here to help students of all ages and geographies build their skills and prepare for Space careers. With so much potential in the field, we want to be clear about how to make a career in space science, how to position yourself for future space jobs, and (for those heading into college, the best majors for a career in space.

Our guide lives at the intersection of Space and Tech with our top recommendations about organizations, student groups, and more that will help you best prepare for your career in space. 

To help you prepare for a career change that will leverage your skills for future jobs in space, over 100 Space technology education programs were considered. We conducted numerous alumni interviews to arrive at our Top 15 recommendations. For each program listed, we summarize what the purpose is, who the ideal candidate is, and why you should participate.
